Technical Tuesday — Contact Page Not Working

This week’s tutorial contains steps to troubleshooting sending and receiving e-mail from your contact page:

1.      Are you trying to send a contact e-mail from the server or your local preview?

a.       The contact page will not function when the site is previewed on your computer.

b.      If your site is not live, load it on your server. Send yourself an e-mail from the page to check the send function.

2.      If your site is on your server: Check to make sure that the correct email has been entered on the contact page in the editor.

a.       If your email has been entered and appears correct, try retyping the address – you may have an ascii character in the address that the editor doesn’t recognize.

                                                               i.      Save the site.

                                                             ii.      On the server, delete the xml folder. Reload your xml folder from your local drive to the server. Clear your cache and check and see if the contact page is working by sending yourself another e-mail from the contact page.

3.      If you have checked the above and you are still not receiving e-mail from the contact page on your live site, try sending the email through FlashPalette’s server. This will help narrow down the issue of whether or not your server or the email provider is causing the problem.

a.       In the editor, go to the contact page and select the option ”Use FlashPalette Server to Send Email.” (This will route the request through the FlashPalette server and send the email to the email address you have entered on the contact page.)

                                                               i.      Save the site.

                                                             ii.      Delete the xml folder from your server. Reload your xml folder from your local drive to the server. Clear your cache and check and see if the contact page is working by send yourself another e-mail from the contact page.
